Texas Primary Early Voting Analysis
Democrats more engaged than Republicans
Early voting is underway for the Texas March 3 primary election. The Texas Secretary of State updates daily early voting statistics, which provides clues for voter engagement.
Primary election turnout tends to be idiosyncratic largely related to the competitiveness of the elections on the ballot. Both parties have contested US Senate primary contests, which should draw voters. Levels of early voting in the respective party primaries thus provides a clues to relative levels of engagement among partisans.
I can’t make any predictions about who may win with primary election data since these contests are inter-party fights.
