Have Georgia's New Election Laws Suppressed Votes?
In a Georgia Secretary of State debate, incumbent Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger touted the record in-person early voting as evidence that state’s new election law SB 202 has not suppressed any votes.
I feel so strongly about the rule of law, I feel so strongly about our Constitution, I feel so strongly about the right to vote, so therefore, I’m really excited that people were talking about SB 202, how it’s going to destroy and hurt turnout, and yet yesterday, we had almost doubled the turnout we had four years ago
We should be cautious about claims that high voter interest that drives up turnout does not mean that some communities are left behind because they earnestly wanted to participate but were unable to.
